After reading several threads regarding the windshield tape and the various reasons "to" or "not to" remove the tape, I had a thought. In racing, we use a tape called "leading edge tape". We use this for edges of wings, suspension pieces, noses, etc. Basically any part we don't want sandblasted or rock chipped. I think the S2K looks better w/o the tape, but agree that you are asking for rock chips. I think this leading edge tape would work great and allow you to remove the OE tape and still have protection. The tape is clear and comes in two sizes 2" & 4" wide. The only draw back is price - 2"x100 foot = $88.16 and 4"x100 foot is $127.82. (not too much more than OE replacement tape). This may be the way to go ??

 

Is this the 3M tape?? Is this similar to Stonguard and other products????
