guys i think i now why they put the tape there in the first place, some place on the assembly line of the s2k there must have been a piece of metal which hanged to low and scraped up several of the early s2ks winshield, so instead of having to paint them up again, they decided to just put tape on all of the s2ks...

I have Spa Yellow. Since I almost always have top down or hardtop on I finally took the plunge this past weekend and removed the tape. IMHO it looks MUCH better w/o the tape BUT there is some damage (actually poor paint). At the top left corner there are two places about the size of a dime where the paint is so thin that the primer shows thru. It's perfect everywhere else. Took it to the dealer and he said factory rep would have to look at it as they have to approve all paint repairs. He's suppossed to be in next week and I will post the results.
In the meantime, if anybody has successfully gotten this taken care of under warranty I would appreciate hearing about it and the details. Thanks

Basically it is cheaper for Honda to put the black tape on the frame than to paint it. Besides, you don't have to worry about a "ding" from a rock showing up, which happens alot on painted frames. I wouldn't mind removing the tape, but I have asked alot of people and they said it would like like s**t if I did that. I was more concerned about future fading.
