Thanks everyone.

I think I will attempt to get it repainted because I really like the look without it. Wish me luck

OKAY, so why didn't they put the tape on the black Stooks?

And why wouldn't they have fixed the problem long before the yellow came down the line?

I have Spa Yellow. Since I almost always have top down or hardtop on I finally took the plunge this past weekend and removed the tape. IMHO it looks MUCH better w/o the tape BUT there is some damage (actually poor paint). At the top left corner there are two places about the size of a dime where the paint is so thin that the primer shows thru. It's perfect everywhere else. Took it to the dealer and he said factory rep would have to look at it as they have to approve all paint repairs. He's suppossed to be in next week and I will post the results.

In the meantime, if anybody has successfully gotten this taken care of under warranty I would appreciate hearing about it and the details. Thanks

I had this problem when I removed my frame tape, and the dealer wouldn't cover the charge for the re-paint. I didn't expect them to, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Basically it is cheaper for Honda to put the black tape on the frame than to paint it. Besides, you don't have to worry about a "ding" from a rock showing up, which happens alot on painted frames. I wouldn't mind removing the tape, but I have asked alot of people and they said it would like like s**t if I did that. I was more concerned about future fading.
