Ah, great. I missed that in your posts.

Oh, I love it without the tape, though I admit to some disappointment about uncovering scratched paint. I said as much in the Honda owner's survey.

I think the "solid" color cars look great with the tape on or off. The blacked-out frame is cool. I think my Suzuka looks better with the tape off. Personal choice. Rock on, Jonathan!

Hi Hamada. What year / color is your car? (just curious).

I don't think you can / should complain to the dealers directly about this problem. Personally, I feel they own no responsibility for this. The car comes from the factory with tape on and no instructions or explanations to customers. Basically, we remove it at our own risk.

That said, I did inquire with my dealer about the scratches on my car and they were ignorant about the tape in the first place. I wish Honda corporate would explain themselves and why some cars are scuffed.

Best wishes

I removed my tape and it makes me happy. If you don't know how you'll feel about it, well then don't do it! Personally, I like the look both ways, tape on or off.

Before (with tape on). . .

After (with tape off). . .

Here's a pic of a Grand Prix White (AndyP's, I believe)

I suspect that Honda likes the top of the windshield blending with the black top. Painting it a different color than the body was probably either too difficult for production or added too much cost, so they came up with the black tape. I personally think the cars look good either way; although I'm not sure I like the looks of the lighter colors with the tape removed and the top up. That's why I haven't removed it from my blue.

Ok took mine off couple days ago and looks great. If I look really close there's about a 1 inch patch of dull paint(not really noticeable since my car sebring silver) on lower left A pillar. Appears to have no clear coat on it. Anyway to make this look shinier or better?

A few coats of Zaino Z-5 helped my car a lot. Just make sure you get some sort of polished/wax on it since (as you know) it's unprotected with clearcoat.

Rock on, guys!

TKG, all I meant was that in the sanded / scratched area, the clearcoat was scraped off... Certainly, you're better off if the clearcoat is still on (your scrapes must be very gentle). Anyway, the Z-5 worked pretty well. You really have to look.
