if they intended for the top to blend in i don't think they would have painted it the same color as the rest of the car, it would not have cost more money to paint it just black. in fact it would cost more t paint in and then just put tape on top. in any case looks great with the tape off

I was assuming that they painted the car and the windshield frame all at once. If so, it seems like painting them two different colors would definitely add time and labor. At the very least, some sort of masking would have to be done to prevent overspray, and possibly there'd have to be some time for the first color to set before masking could be done without damaging it. If this is the case, then slapping some tape on the frame after painting and clear coating the whole car in one color may be cheaper and easier to do.

Bottom line, we're all guessing about the motivation for the tape here. I conjectured appearance and masking of flaws, but who knows. If anyone ever finds out the answer to this, I hope they post it. Rock on!

ya hopfuly someone will find the real reason behind the tape, but for now well all know it looks great with or without, i think without but thats just me.
