Maybe the VTEC is stuck or something.
HUH? Why would VTEC being "stuck" have anything to do with a mis-reading speedometer?

You've got to be kidding me. I thought the speaking without listening problem happened only in person, turns out people do it non-stop here too.

How to attract stoopid people: Create this thread and watch them flock.

Haha. My guess is a bad speed sensor and nothing to do with the gauge.

Our Mazda had a bad speed sensor earlier this year. 3k rpm at 130mph in a '91 4 door sedan. haha.

Speed sensor...that could be it.

If your speedo was calibrated in mph, but your VTEC somehow got switched over to kph, then the displayed result would be the sum of the two readings.

For example, at 40mph, the VTEC would read 64kph.

The speedo would show 104mph.

At higher speeds this would be more dramatic.

At 60mph, your VTEC would read 97kph, for a sum of 157mph on the speedo

I think the latest theory is that he was not truly experiencing the posted speed on the speedo. The speedo was overstating his true ground speed.

That would explain a few things...but still does not tell us the root cause for the sensor malfunction.

If the missing link can be solved for, then the theory will be unified and without problematic gaps.

If you are serious which I hope your not, vtec has nothing to do with mph or kph, it doesnt read the speed any differently if your in vtec or not How can vtec "read" a different speed....?

I put my money on faulty vss. Take it to the dealer and let us know so we can put this post to rest. This post has GOT to be the most embarassing thread for s2ki. People should not be allowed to post till they at least read a good portion of the thread

You guys are actually taking what Ruprecht said seriously?
I could be wrong, but I'm almost positive that he not only knows better, but was just yanking the chain to see what he could flush out.

All seriousness aside, VTEC does make the numbers on the speedometer change more quickly.
