Worked at Torrance Honda R&D Facility.
I own a company with a friend and we polish and restore the natural shine of various igneous stones (i.e. granite, marble, travertine, etc.) We recently had a contract at the Torrance Honda R&D facility to restore the granite in the main entrance. On display were two CART V-8 Turbo motors and we got to see one getting fired up. I have to say it was the most visceral experience i've had in a while. Security was very tight though. They held on to my camera phone and they actually have their own security inside the R&D building. It was cool.
Where you at the American Honda Headquarters? The granite entrance is in the administration building. I was there about as year ago. The really cool building there is behind the administration building, It's the home of all the model engineers, Techline (The people dealers call with problems) and the Superbike team.
Ya, we have a contract to do all the granite in the HR administration building next week. We did the main entrance to the R&D building where the granite is in the front and inside the first entrance.

Does the Torrance facility do design work, Razor? I'm not sure what AHM's role is in product design.
I know they have a lot of support staff there, but (maybe it's just me) I like to be where the cars are designed.

I used to pass the Honda Proving Center in Cantil, CA. It's in the middle of the Mojave desert and is just about the only thing around for miles. I think the "severe" conditions and hot and dusty.

BTW tokemad, sounds like a pretty cool job. Bet there aren't a lot of folks that do that.

There really isn't Smokee. A majority of people that do marble shining usually put a seal on it, but do not know about the natural shining properties. Seals scratch, marble doesn't. If you guys have marble and would like to restore it, give me a PM. Southern California only though, sorry.
