I like the S2000 but can't get over the Ricer image... and being asian.. it makes it only more painfully so... when I return to the US.. i have no idea what car to get...

Seriously, but as great as the S2000 is, a lot of other cars offer a different kind of driving experience (muscle cars for instance, others love driving Escalades... still can't figure out why), so when it comes time for me to trade up I'm sure something will be out there. I never thought I would've ever bought a convertible and here I am with one.

Take the difference of the 911 and dump it into the S. Just think what 100K would do to a S.
Ask johnny tran, he might know what that feels like.

i agree with the OP. a cayman S might be faster, but doesn't rev the same and has no open top. neither does the z06 or porsche turbo. the muscle cars are certainly not built as well with flexible chasis. the S is agreat car is many fields. not the fastest, but fantastic in so many ways. the only car i would think of replacing it with is a manual 6 spd f430 spyder, but even that, i bet wouldn't be as fun to drive.

i wonder about the addictive personalities of those of you who crave neck breaking speed. careful out there.

The S2000 messed me up.

I sold my S because of some lifestyle changes (needed more car space), but didn't want to give up all the performance - so I bought an E46 M3. After about a year, and only needing the extra space for about 2 months , I sold the M3 (last Sunday to be exact).

However.....the M3 messed me up.

I can no longer go back to a car with tons less power, and I can no longer go back to something with tons less handling. I think I found the the best car that keeps the higher power, has the incredibly fun handling, and is affordable to me. My Cayman S should be here within the next week or two .............what the hell am I going to do next ........hope the boss gives me a big raise.

When I get my S I plan on keeping it for a very long time.

The reasons I say this
#1 Gas prices arent dropping
#2 I hate hauling people around
#3 Awsome car with tons of potential
#4 I miss my 04 RX8, but the S is so much better

I figure once I can afford a GT3, then the S2K can go. Until then, it won't be replaced
Exactly what I told my wife.

Downgraded from FD3S and imma happy camper.
Going slightly OT, but how does an FD3S compare with an S? it's always been one of my fantasy cars (can't help it, i'm Asian and a JDM junkie by birthright) and I'd wondered if it drives as well as the S

I don't agree. Not complaining for the price, but I crave more power from a standing start. Having played around in a Skyline GTR (Godzilla) when I was in Japan, I miss almost getting my neck snapped off when the lights go green. Absolutely love the handling on the S. Love throwing it around corners and losing the rear in a controlled manner, but, I don't know.... you can torch me all you want, but I'm seriously thinking of upgrading to either an Elise 111R, or a Cayman S. (I've only had my S for 3 months). Elise in Singapore is about US$ 55k more than the S, and the Cayman about US$ 90k more so really I shouldn't complain. Love the car, but .....
I'm from Singapore too. My S cost me 3 times less in Dubai than what it costs me in SG. That said, you can get ST Powered to install an SC for you. MB Performance (look for Sam) should be able to get a Comptech or Votech fitted for you as well.

As a matter of fact, I'm contemplating going back to SG in October to pick up some nice JDM parts

I think the worst part of this addiction is the transmission. I have yet to find a production car with a tranny as nice/fun as the S's -- and frankly, the tranny was the main factor for me to get the S
