The worst thing about an S2k....
No shit, the S2000 makes a much better daily driver, is a better value, and more reliable. Those are some of the reasons I bought an S2000 over an Elise. But get real, an Elise will clean the S2000's clock on the track. Have you driven the Elise? It's quite a bit more intense of an experience!

And I just learnt something new about the worst thing about an S2k -- I attract the weirdest characters for a street race - 350Z and Ford Mustang GT drivers.

When I get my S I plan on keeping it for a very long time.
The reasons I say this
#1 Gas prices arent dropping
#2 I hate hauling people around
#3 Awsome car with tons of potential
#4 I miss my 04 RX8, but the S is so much better

An S....screw what people think. Don't drive it like a Ricer and you won't get looked at like one

As for the term Rice, why do you look at it so negatively? S2k drivers bought this car because we love them. I am not Asian, so please pardon my ignorance if I say what is the big deal about the term Rice.

i agree with the OP. a cayman S might be faster, but doesn't rev the same and has no open top. neither does the z06 or porsche turbo. the muscle cars are certainly not built as well with flexible chasis. the S is agreat car is many fields. not the fastest, but fantastic in so many ways. the only car i would think of replacing it with is a manual 6 spd f430 spyder, but even that, i bet wouldn't be as fun to drive.
i wonder about the addictive personalities of those of you who crave neck breaking speed. careful out there.

Yeah, I'm sure if you were able to get a Ferrari and trade in the S, you will. You can go on and on about how the S2000 is more this and that, but in the end owning a Ferrari or Porsche will get the best of the most of us. Let's not kid outselves.
Also, husband keeps S2000, wife drives Civic... I'm not even marrying age yet and know the implications of that.
However, teh more safer route imo is paying off the S2000 (if it isn't paid off already) and pick up a good used luxury car like a Lexus with a warranty if it'll make you feel better. Both of my cars don't have to suit my tastes, only one does, the other has to suit my needs. Both camps are happy and two awesome cars for their intended purposes in the stable. Can't live the pipe dream of having an S2000 for the weekends and an M5 for the family, at least not for a while.
Oh, and if money allows it, next car is a Corvette, don't care about how the shifter sucks or how this or that, people will say things like M3 or Cayman, fact is that unless you track your car or take it to the mountain roads often, the endearing qualities of those cars don't really shine. The Vette covers the fun factor bases that you'll use more often, in everyday situations, namely being torque, and living in the bay there are tons of onramps, toll booths, and stoplights everywhere. And on the track, it'll still hold its own.
