would u go from a m3 to a s2k?
My girlfriend was shopping for a used M3 or an 07 S. She ended up with an S because it was more nimble, fun to drive, and easier and cheaper to maintain.
I would like either an S2000 + a DD or just an M3. I think I would have preferred her to get the M3, as 2 S2000s is impractical.

If reliability is a big concern, you may want to look at superchargers with high HP, such as a custom tuned Greddy or Vortech or Rotrex (Jackson Racing/Kraftwerks, it's not quite finished yet) supercharger. You can get 350-400 whp without going too crazy, and some (sideways, for example) have over 450whp.
If speed is the answer and you can find a good tuner, go for turbo and you'll have that wonderful thing called torque, so you'll get places a lot faster than a S/C S2000 with the same peak WHP.
You'll want to spend the money on a rear differential if you want to launch the car, and you'll need a clutch, as would be expected. And with 400+whp, if want to do anything but spin when you mash the throttle, you'll want to look at tire/rim options. Without going for a widebody I don't think people get much more than 275mm rears.
