would u go from a m3 to a s2k?
I originally bought an MY06 S2K but realized that I didn't want to pay $1000/month just to drive the car. Keep in mind that this was both the insurance and car note.
I quickly sold the car and bought an M3 which was a little cheaper. I loved the car but it was getting the wrong attention from the authorities around here so I sold it. I considered buying an AP1 but told myself I would miss the low-end torque that the I-6 of the M had to offer so I bought another M, just in a different color. Same year and everything. Two months later, the new M was totaled by a deer.
After owning TWO M's, I decided I wanted something a little different and get out of the Bimmerworld so I found a good deal on an AP2 and have loved it ever since. Sure, it doesn't have the tq that I'm used to but it still puts a smile on my face each day I drive it.
I have noticed that the aftermarket parts are more expensive considering it's a Honda but in the end, it's still worth it to me. Would I buy another M3 though? Yes, but only an E36, it's more of a driver oriented car then the E46.
I agree with Berlina_Black, there are a lot of a-holes on M3Forum but it's a different world on Bimmerforums - which I'm an active member on, MeFryRice.

But if you're crazy enough, you can have multiple sit in the passenger seat too.
But the S2000 is completely impractical, unlike the practical M. If you like the more luxurious feel and actually being able to carry people or items around, then stick with the M3. I know guys who are very happy with theirs and wouldn't consider the trade. For me, I love how the S2000 feels when driving. It's spartan, but that's how it's supposed to be; and besides from wanting a better head unit with an aux input, I can't really think of anything missing. Like another poster said, the M is a compromise between the two seater and a practical family car.
If you don't need practical, and have friend's with practical, why not get the S2000? Plus, just to swing the deal around for the S a bit more, you can buy the S and get a cheap pick up truck for the carrying/practical portions of life and as a trackbike tower.
As impractical as it sounds, my R6 is my daily "rider" and the S2000 is my fun getaway car and I'm loving it.

If you like the M3, keep it. If you want to go to an S2000, switch. It's not rocket science. You come to an S2000 site and ask if we would prefer an S or a M3?
P.S. Nice post: "But its a Honda....you are comparing filet minon to fried chickem IMO...."

when you add the $625 payment (5yrs) + $150 gas (varies) + $150 insurance i end up pretty close to the $1k mark.
on the same scale, a decent new civic would be ~$400 payment + $120 gas + $100 insurance, and its worth the difference to me.
i know, used is cheaper, as are other options, but i'm going to drive it for 7-10 years, so the longevity is an issue to me, as is the "i'll either enjoy or have to put up with this car for a long time" factor.
