The stickers seem like a decent idea since it's advertising for the site. I'd allocate a spot on the right front inside of my windshield for that. I agree that the other stuff would likely just gather dust and be a waste...

I agree with the others...pins, memberships cards are a waste. I do like the email and photo storage for members.

Well put S2000GT. Perks should be baseball caps or t-shirts, with a nice S2000 International logo, discounted for members but still returning a small profit to the website. Free stuff like pens and refrigerator magnets are just junk IMO which tends to end up in the trash can.

Ditto with many of the previous posters - I'm happy to support the site but please don't ask for $X and then waste even a small amount of it by sending me something I don't want/can't use. Take all of the donations and plow it back into the site.

Cthree,
I second your subscription model, which supports the free flow of information allowing non-members to post. I am sure that, given adequate time, non-members will realize the value of the forum and will join in. Enough has been said about the quality of the site and the sense of community that this site has provided. As mentioned in some of the posts, the cost of the pins, stickers, ..., should go to the funding of the site operations (you all deserve a pay for growing a site of this quality.) Please just make it easy for all of us with a simple payment method.

Thanks again for the effort you and those behind the scene have put in to make this forum one of a kind.

Ok, thanks for that feedback! That's why I asked!

cards/pins/crap are out. Discounts on such things are certainly doable if/when we get them.

Cthree,

I like the different levels, but you might want to create another level. For people who would donate more.

The restrictions for non paying members i think are a bit drastic. Maybe you should limit how much they can post and send PM. Say, for non-members, they can send up to 50 pm's and 100 messages. That way, they get to experience what s2ki is all about, can experience the benefits of this site, and what it has to offer, and by that time, they would be hooked on the site and would gladly pay.

It's like those porn sites, they give it to you for free to try and after a while, you would't mind paying... or so i am told....

All in all, sounds good, except for this. If you want to have an extra ad or two at the top of the page, cool. But do not do pop-ups. Putting myself in the position of a newbie, I know that when I see a popup appear, I get very ticked. It wastes my time and is quite irritating. It has been enough on some sites for me to leave and not return. In summary - extra ads for non-paying members is o.k., but do it in a consistent, non-popup manner.

I would also give a negative on the pop ups...I find them annoying and use Pop- up Stopper to block this anyway...so what would be the point?

I would pay extra $$$$ not to be driven crazy by pop up adds. Please Cthree don't do it.
