I answered yes but I like the "contribution" method over a "subscription fee. Having worked in fundraising, if you leave the amount up to the donor, based on the value they believe they get from the cause, then you will do fairly well. Don't restrict access, and it's OK to post a Contributor list to show the supporters. I'd have no problem sending in $$$ for the reasons all have stated above. Just think of the money and headaches this site has saved you and pull out your wallet once a year.

Keep up the good work CThree and when this survey and thread is figured out make sure you let us know where to send our contributions.

Keep on Tec'n.

We have 2107 registered owners of a $32K sports car paying upwards of $1000 per year for insurance who should ALL, to the person, pay the cost of one measly tank of gas to maintain this site for a year! (2107 X 20)/12 = $3512 per month and would be adequate to run this site. If it were up to me, I would personally make the site read/write to members and read only to non-members and charge $20 per year with no second thoughts. At least you would have folks posting on the site who were truly interested in having a quality interchange of information. I have learned enough from this site to save much more than $20 on maintenance per year. Greg Stevens' post on loose spark plugs may have saved my engine! Maybe it's time to act like adults and poney up the bucks it takes to keep this wonderful site up and running. Just to get a sense of how others feel check out this post: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=63254

Imagine the day when cthree puts out the following message:

To all the loyal members and fans of the S2000 International web site. We are very sorry to inform you that due to long standing financial difficulties, we will no longer be able to continue operations. Continuing to maintain the site out of pocket is no longer feasible and mounting personal debt among the board members makes operation of the site impossible. Therefore after June 30, 2003 we will be "off the air". A new forum "Fond Farewells" will be set up for all to say their goodbyes and make any last comments.

Think about it! Vote now to support your favorite and best S2000 site on the web!

Absolutely! This is the finest members forum I've ever seen. Even though I really liked my S2k the first couple months I had it, I came to love it with an obsessive passion after following this site and getting involved with other owners and meets/events. It's worth whatever we have to do to keep it viable.

I agree with littleton, this site is a priceless repository of information for both current and future owners and well worth the $20 dollar "investment". I would like to add the idea of a "stepped' owner subscription rate similiar to the magazine subscription scenario. 1 year for $20, 2 years for $35, 3 years for?? and so on. This way those of us who are sincerely interested in the survival of this site can make difference now.

Keep up the good work cthree (and others).

I didn't vote, nor did I look at the results.

I'd be happy to make a contribution, just as I was the last time, start the thread and it's done.

I will say, a small "members only" forum is a great idea in my opinion, who knows, it may become the most popular forum of all.

I been giving this more thought and here's my 2 cents. I found the site very compelling when I was trying to decide on purchasing the car. I soaked up all the information I could prior to and after purchasing it. I used it for daily input, did searches of past threads and library info, and used it to find links to other sources of info on the car. I considered in indispensable in sorting out the engine failure episodes. Reliable resources such as Woodwork were extremely helpful and in that vain I have tried to give something back in the way of useful information. In hind sight I wish I'd have sent cthree the $35 I sent to S2kca, as the site has provided much for free. I thought the two were joined at the hip but I see from my latest email they have set up their own forum. I can't honestly say that I will always feel the site is worth x amount of money to me, as nothing stays the same but I can say that I feel I owe something and that I will continue to benefit to the time being. Where do I sent the check and how much?

What if you had a new membership fee, $25 and after that $20 a year for members with posting priveleges. Most of these websites I know are currently loosing money. Let us know what we need to do to help out!

This is just an idea...Since most everyone was trying to achieve 6th gear in posts...How about doing something like that again, but have it go by the amount you contribute to the site per year...

The higher the contribution the higher the gear.

Just something to think about

Count me in - I have saved enough money just on knowledge gained from the site to warrant a contribution/subscription/what ever you want to call it.

Hell - I still would not know I had a secret compartment if it wasn't for this site.
