I would donate gladly, even more if it was a NPO. I do think the donators should get a neat icon or something to designate who donated. But I wouldn't want to block access to non owners who don't donate cause some provide very insightful information or comments. I know if I was a non owner I would not want to pay. Sometimes the help they give is worth more. I would hope all owners would pitch in $$$ without question. This is a great source of S2K information.

cthree,

Give us a Pay Pal account to send the money to. I am down with the $20 a year at a minimum.

The Pay Pal system makes it easy to get you the money instantly.

I believe most everyone has the same feeling that we would gladly pay/donate to help keep this site up. The main issue is that for those who did pay, why are we paying and how come the next person isn't paying. I would want to receive something out of the $20 or so i donated. BUT, i also don't want to have some sort of elitist section where only paid members are allow in. The idea of receiving bigger discounts would be ideal, or a special badge/ keychain or whatever that you can display. That might run the cost of having the site up too.... So.. it is really hard to do something that would not offend anyone.

maybe some of the sponsors could get together and have a special fund raising effort. i know the margin on some of the product is already low, but maybe a special on rick's accessories during the fall colors run and a certain percentage would go to this site.

This site has been tremendously helpful and entertaining, and for $.05 a day, that is well worth it...

Set the paypal account up and i will donate!!

I voted no for a very simple reason. I love the S2k and drool over it every time I see it, but I don't own one. For some reason I have a difficult time justifying a subscription when I don't own the car.

That being said, however, I love the site and there are some very nice people here with great info that is applicable to any vehicle. For that fact, I would be happy to donate a few bucks here and there to the cause.

You're paying $250/month for server access? Are you leasing a server and T1?

It doesn't make sense to be paying that much.

I agree about the point of saving thousands from the content of this forum alone, and I also would pay a measly $20/year.

Why not try the donation model first and if that doesn't work, move towards a subscription? Perhaps you could have a graphic showing what has been donated and what the goal is, on the main page. You could also have different levels of contribution that add "tags" to people's name (i.e. gold member, or 6th gear member, etc.).

To CTHREE,
When I first read your note and took the poll I voted NO. "Boy was I wrong".
The more I read about all your efforts and sweat I could not believe I voted that way. I really do think you have a GREAT product and would pay what ever amount it takes to keep it going.
Thanks again for all your time and concerns.
