Yes but I'd like to choose the amount and only if it provided restricted access to some information

Would you subscribe to S2KI?
I'd have no issue with that at all.
What do you pay for a magazine subscription? You pay around the same or more, its not interactive...its not going to answer nearly any associated question you might have etc.
If i was to do it, I'd probably setup a paypal account, give people a differing degree of donation points like $5, $10, $15, $20 etc and let people donate what they feel is appropriate.
We've all benefited from the site in some way over the past couple of years..and seeing what you've put out of pocket...I feel its well worth $20 USD .
I'd also suggest establishing a church or charity

i wouldn't mind helping out s2ki during tough months with the measly money that i do make.
I would be happy to help out. However, I am a little uncomfortable with the direction of this site. I am used to sites with a very different model than this one. Let me explain. I belong to a very popular site for bmw motorcycles that carries on the same model as other bike sites with the latest technology. It has been arround for 4 years now. Here are the differences.
1...There is no big vendor deal. There are a couple of guys that make some custom stuff and thats it. They don't support the site in any extra way and so there aren't any ad's or plugs other than by the members of the site in the various threads. I personally like that approach. I am not looking for alot of commercial content with my hobbies. I know that it probably broadens the parts offerings lowers the prices (maybe raises them) for everyone but again, i bought the car because of how Honda built it not because of what may be available for it.
2... There is little or no moderating. All users have accounts and passwords which are only used from time 2 time if we need 2 lockout some moron from the site.
3... Graphics are considered to be as important as text for communicating so they are directly inserted in your thread or wherever as the easiest and fastest way for people to get it done.
4... The site is fast, beautiful and uses the latest technology and seems to be capable of being maintained on a shoestring as opposed to this one which seems to require a real budget and operating infrastructure. here's the link if u care to look. http://66.150.207.99/ws/cgi/passisapi.dll?|k12_external|ANONYKgolLdhDpliK|HomePage||
5... When there are expenses for the site such as hardware upgrades or something else, we all chip in some $$ and this is completely voluntary with no special priveleges.

That site has $250 per month operating costs http://www.i-bmw.com/friends/friends.htm with contributors to the site. S2KI is $2700 as c3 noted above. Fairly large difference.
We have to remember to compare apples to apples when looking at what other sites have and do. Just an observation.
C3.. how about some site stats, number of hits per day/month etc. Bandwidth numbers..........

I'm pretty sure that with a by-donation model, you would capture all the "yes" as well as the "no's" in the poll. I have a feeling that the "no's" still want to contribute, but don't want to be tied down to a yearly subscription fee...
