Hahaha. At the start of next years F1 season let's see if we can convince the Kimster or Loui that lowering their engines redline 10% won't matter.

Any of the people here who ride bikes care to have their bikes redline lowered to 8k? If 9k isn't cooler, then 8k redlines aren't any cooler than 6k redlines.

6k > 9k.

Yea, that must be right.
I'm guessing the original poster of the 9k worthless was joking. He does have an AP1 listed in his profile.

I think the fact that they're so similar makes it easier to contrast the differences

That's pretty astute. You wouldn't compare a Merlot to a Pinot Grigio, but I'm sure there are pretty heated sommelier discussions on which Pinot is the "best."

I still think I'd take a stock AP2 over a stock AP1 if it was only car. Then I'd trade it for a 335 or E46 M3.

But for a "fun car" with a measure of daily drivability, I love my boosted AP1 and really don't want anything more civilized. It's already to the point where it's too easy to break speed limits, etc. without drama. What would I do with a Corvette that can go to 60mph in 1st gear? I might as well drive an automatic.

I want a little bit of drama during "normal" driving... but needed TC to account for variable weather and road conditions (so I wouldn't have to cater to the lowest common denominator).

And my final gear is back to 4.10 after the 4.57s broke a tooth in the pinion gear.

If the Honda died today and I had to replace it; I'd consider an AP2, but I'd swap the ECU like dyhppy did and get my 9k redline back.

This thread is pretty much lame at this point. Drive both, figure out which one you like better, and then buy it. End of story.
With nice informative posts like this one, I guess I'm wasting my time here.
Silly me.

CKit, I'm sure he was joking, but I'm not. 6k > 9k. Since some here love monkey math so much, why not take it to the next level. An L88 makes more torque and power at 6k than an S2000 makes at 8k or 9k, so 6k > 9k.

I want one of the signature pictures with the dyno-chart penises, but I want them both limp and shrivled, because that's the way the argument makes the people look.

Anyway, this thread has been pronounced lame by the thread Gods, so I'm done with it.

Sarcasm? Your posts are certainly very informative and I respect you for your experience. I know you've been here longer than I have so I'm sure you've read the endless comparing and contrasting of the two models in the other "AP1 vs AP2" threads. So, yes I think five pages is more than enough for this one thread. I'm just sick of people arguing over the differences of the two cars when lots of people are simply being biased because they own one of the two. I just think people should respect both cars for more for their positves rather than focusing directly at their negatives and we should be united rather than divided. With that I won't say anymore.

I was actually kind of pleased at the kind of posts we've been seeing here since this thread was revived. If anyone has started the "mine is bigger/better" BS in this latest round, I've managed to miss it somehow, and it's just nice to see everyone getting along so well (for a change).

As soon as this thread quiets down and falls off the forum's front page, there will be another thread started, asking which is better or which a future owner should buy, but as long as the discussions go the way this one has been going it won't be like it use to be. LOL, do you think that's a just a pipe dream?
I hope it's not.

Interesting thought experiment... If my S2000 died today, I'd go for...

1) As good a condition Berlina MY03 as I could find. I'd add a front swaybar and 17" VOLK wheels.

2) Failing that, I'd get a MY08 CR. I'd do the Hondata reflash to get the 5500 to 8500 rpm range for VTEC. I'd remove the CDV and put in a light flywheel and HD pressure plate. Not having driven one I don't know what I'd do, if anything, with the suspension. I'd prefer the AP1 gearing, but wouldn't want to put in an AP1 transmission to get it.

3) If I couldn't get a CR, or didn't like it for whatever reason, I'd start looking at Elises.

Just poking fun at the fact that any time someone even breathes a word about any single aspect of an AP1 being better than any single aspect of an AP2, people freak out.

So yes, definitely joking

There's just no way that the 9k redline could be better than the 8k for anything, ever.
Eventually the 9K redline will be the more collectable = more valuable.
