ap1 of course but some of these comments make me wonder if some of you guys/gals actually own this car....

the drop in redline is mimimal and increase in torque is not THAT much and yet there are posts that insinuate that you have to rev the crap out of the ap1 but not the ap2 WTF?

The engine regardless of ap1 or ap2 is a rev happy engine so you DO have to rev the "crap" out of it.

And where is this "way" more power statement coming from? Or this tremendous amount of torque are you guys high or something?

Both engines are similar in that they are low torque engines and need to be reved, it is the essence of the engine. Changes were made to make it slightly more civilized but the general characteristics are still there so please stop acting like the ap2 engines are putting out gobs of torque and hp compared to the ap1.

WERD to ^^^. Whenever i drive an ap1, i become frustrated. Gearing and midrange is far superior on the AP2.....ANd yes, honestly. How often do you rev to 9k that having the extra 1k redline over rules all the other benefits of the f22c? not very often.
Some people like engines with a longer stroke and more torque. Some prefer a shorter stroke and higher specific output. The way each has to be driven to extract the performance is somewhat different, and some like one more than the other. There is NO basis in fact to believe that one is actually better than the other. The fact of the matter (not some BS opinion) is that there are sound reasons to perfer one over the other, either way, and thinking that one's personal preference is superior is more egotistical than a matter of fact.

To answer your question, I personally see 9k every time I drive the car. If you don't see 8k on your car very often, then obviously the F22C is a better choice FOR YOU. If you think everyone else on the planet is in the same boat you are, then you should think about it a little more.

well, you cant buy a new AP1, so figure out if you want a new car vs a used car.

if you are cool with a used car, go out and drive both of them. everyone has a different opinion re: which is the better car for them, and everyone is going to place a differnt value of the trade-offs (i.e., revs, styling, handling, etc.).

if you're set on the AP1, go with newest model year / lowest mileage car you can find (and color is probably a consideration).

if you want a used AP2, figure out if you want VSA, ugly wheels, head unit speakers, DBW, etc. If you dont want that stuff, get an '04 of '05, and in that case, you're probably better off with the '05 over the '04 (as long as the miles are lower on the '05).

so there it is. AP2 MY2005 = best s2k. easy peasy.
