About the new feel of your car.. if the inspection was as methodical as you make it seem, I don't think you'll feel a difference at all!

It's a car. It'll be fine, if not better for the replaced engine. Swap it and enjoy it. What's with the "everything is disposable" attitude? "Sorry, baby. You've got a scar. Trading you in for the latest model."

First of all, your car won't feel the same.
I mean at least mine didn't after the accident like yours.

And I don't think you will be lucky enough to get $23 out of that car. Accident free MY05 with less mileage then yours sometimes goes less than that.

Either way, good luck for everything!

Thanks guys, I guess I just haven't been following the used car value of S2000's. Oh well.

It was a poor lapse in judgement that caused this fate. I'm not proud of what I did and I'm really glad I didn't hurt anyone else. This could have gone down a lot worse than it did. I'm thankful to be here. I've been running a really bad schedule of late and I paid the consequences. I agree that calling someone or better yet, putting the top down in the 30 degree weather could have saved me a lot of heartache now. Please drive safe people and thanks for the kind words.

[QUOTE=TubeDriver,Feb 12 2008, 12:40 PM] Why do you need a new engine?

i'm really sorry to hear this.

the s2000 is my first new car. i havent been in any reportable accident since i was 18, and i'm 25 now. about a week ago, i had a guy smear the side of my bumper with his big pickup's tire. as strange as this sounds, at this point, i'm 90% sure he hit me intentionally, and that's what really frustrates me. it's a long story, but i got a police report, it was considered my fault (primarily because no witnesses stopped), and i now have an accident recorded. i took lots of pictures, and all the damage (under $2000 worth) is/was cosmetic. the body shop is one of the best in the SLC Utah area, so the workmanship and painting should be as flawless as possible. also, after it's paid off and supercharged, i already have been wanting to paint it imola and add a widebody kit.

but the fact remains: my car was hurt, my ego is still bruised, and i really feel empathy for you.

only you and the repair techs really know how bad the damage is, and you'll get a better idea when it's done. my damage was cosmetic, where yours is much more substantial. if you get vibrations and such, you'll want to sell it.

if it's repaired properly and you can't tell the difference by driving it, i'd really consider it an expensive investment in emotion if you choose to buy a new CR to replace it. i think it can easily be argued that the emotion/passion is why we buy s2000s instead of corollas, so though you might lose your shirt on it, it may still be worth it to you.

but with my bruised ego and all, i plan to keep mine for 5-10 more years.

Cars are to drive. Remember that the something else could happen to the new car also. Repair it, drive it and see if it feels the same to you.

I think $23k is a little optimistic for a 2005, especially one with an accident on the record. As far as upgrading, if the shop does a great job then you shouldn't notice anything.....unless you just want a reason to upgrade : )

Glad the car is ok.
Oh and you too.. lol

I dont know if its just me but I have never felt sleepy driving in my S no matter how late it is or how tired I am. Tired as hell or not, my S keeps me wide awake. Unlike other cars when im driving late and tired, I usually feel really sleepy to the point of passing out or falling asleep in the wheels(sometimes).
Just thought Id share and see if somebody else feels the same way I do.
