Xenon lights - Is this normal?
New S2K owner and first time having Xenon lights. I've noticed that the Xenon lights seem to make a very straight line across the "horizon" when driving at night. I like that they are so bright and go very wide (and I love the blue/purple tint), but when driving at night, I've noticed that the Xenons don't seem to illuminate very high...meaning, I keep wanting to sink lower into my seat and look lower through my windshield because it seems like the light is not projecting high enough to see ahead of me. With my highbeams on, it's not a problem because they help show everything. But I thought that if the S2K had "self-leveling" Xenon lights that they would "adjust" especially when going up or down hill, or driving on a flat surface. Does this make sense? Is this how they are supposed to be?
I've also noticed that the "horizontal line" that the Xenons produce ahead of me, sort of have a "step down" on the driver's side. I was told by the dealer that they do this to prevent blinding oncoming traffic. So I'm not worried about that.
It just seems like the Xenons should illuminate higher, or adjust depending on if I'm going up, down or on a straight road.
Thanks!

You should find that they project much farther down the road then standard lights. YEs they are focused. To check this out turn on you lights at night you'll notice a line. It's really a line that keeps the bright lights from blasting into oncoming traffics eyes. This means the light is lower but is so much brighter and beams out so much farther that you shouldn't have any trouble seeing down the road. unfortunatly they arn't self leveling. Look for them in 04+ models
Yep it's normal.
Nope we don't have self leveling lights.
Normal to have the light pattern you describe. It's lower on drivers side to help prevent blinding oncoming traffic.
FWIW, you can adjust the lights (do a search to see how) just to make sure they are at the right height, but it sounds all very normal to me.

Yep, that's exactly how you described. Okay, so that's normal. And yes, they do illuminate far down the road, and very wide, they just don't illuminate "higher" down the road.
Cool. Thanks for the info. I had thought that the lights were self-leveling. Too bad they aren't!
