XVIPER, need your opinion about heatshield
Would appreciate your opinion. Have purchased Rick's new header & was thinking of not using the heatshields, after paying 600 plus why not show it off occasionally.but you recently stated someone was using a vented hood to let the heat escape. Does a custom stainless steel emit more heat than the OEM header, I don't want a lot of high heat under the hood, especially living in AZ? Was hoping incoming air thru the grill would carry the header heat down and out. But then Mr Honda put the shields on the OEM for a reason. What do you think?
P.S. Your extensive knowledge and expertise and willingness to contribute to this board and help people out is sincerely appreciated. I, and others I am sure, have learned much from you. And thanks to other posters also. Marvin C.

Stainless headers throw a sh!tload of heat - speaking from experience using the DC Sports stainless header on my 2-rides-ago car, a 98 Lude. If I had a chance to do it again, I would've gone with another material, or better yet, Jet-Hot (or whatever that company's name is) coat the header pipe. With no header coating and no way of venting the heat, I'd keep the shield.
I ran a Toda Header for awhile with my SC. While it did produce more heat even here in S Florida in the summer it seemed handlable, there's lots of air coming up from underneath.
I think the heat shilelds do serve a purpose however in helping keep excessive heat of various ac lines and oither comnponents I'd use them as long as Rick had it designed for them.
It's pretty hard to see the header anyway except for the right at the manifold.
