Here's my issue as a very infrequent poster: SteveC. I am not willing to spend $50 or even $20 to support a site with a single long-term well known pool-pisser who is allowed to run rampant. Take this for example. I specifically asked people who disliked the Del Sol to not let that influence their advice to me but he ignored that and called it a "hairdresser's car." Not owning an S2000 (I may someday and would pay then) I am not going to pay for a forum I read for entertainment when I can look forward to a response like that on the rare occasions I want actual advice. If that had been some random person, or if SteveC rarely made posts like that, I wouldn't care, but the fact is that most of his posts annoy me and make me unwilling to pay.

SteveC makes me laugh. And makes some really good points if you actually read what he says. I read the post he made, and even though he called a Del Sol a hairdresser's car, he gave some good advice, probably the same advice I would have given.

I can understand not being a member when you dont own a S. I myself was a guess until I purchased one in 04.

If one guy like Steve C on internet make you not wanting to join because he say some mean things or anoying response....

come on...grow up. You are not paying him. There will always be people with different opinions and different responses and also asshol*s everywhere in this world.

I know some people like SteveC but many don't. It's not so much that he offends me directly as that s2ki claims to have rules about insults and personal conduct yet nothing is ever done about him. As I said I will pay anyway if I purchase an S but if post content is supposed to be regulated and yet SteveC gets away with what he does I can't justify it for entertainment and the occasional non-S advice. I trust, brent_strong, that if you had given the same advice in my thread you would have avoided the hairdresser comment and I would have been more inclined to listen. The fact that he says something like that any time someone fails to criticize the Del Sol is the sort of reason I'm not more active here. I do not mind being insulted on message boards but I do mind paying for it from a well-known member who does it frequently. The "What direction is Honda going" thread is another example of him doing this.

If SteveC were not such a prominent and vocal member of the forum this would be different, I'm not saying "Waa, someone disagreed with me" but "You know, it's frustrating trying to have an intelligent discussion when a particular person gets in the way half the time."

You can always throw him on the old ignore list.

I went gold a few weeks before picking up my S. Debating going regular membership after the first year ran out, but figured what the hell, do your part.

Glad to help out.

You can switch someone off simply by clicking the button at the bottom of their post that says "Ignore". Poof, gone.

steve c is a novelty. Some, like myself, don't take him seriously and laugh at a good number of the things he says. He's even right occationally. When he steps over the line from being a smartass to an asshat he gets slapped for it, sucks it up and moves on. He's actually very easy to deal with because he knows he walks the line and takes it like a man when he steps over it.

It pays to have a healthy sense of humor.

I know some that are irrelevant every which way.

And I find SteveC's contributions refreshing, rather like xviper's, actually. One difference seems to be related to how recently Steve has taken his medication...

Luft, if the link you offered as proof of SteveC's abrasiveness is all it takes to get your dander up, you're not going to be happy in any public forum. I'd rate that one as a 2 out of 10 on a scale of the most smart arsed comments that SteveC has ever made around here. He obviously doesn't care for the Del Sol and he's pretty up front about it. That's not that uncommon for many of us around here, depending on the subject at hand. You really need to try to "not" take it so personally.

I agree with Young_R, as long as you're not an owner yet, I'm not sure I'd worry about membership here unless you just want to. When and if you become an owner, purchasing a membership here would be greatly appreciated but it's still not mandatory. It's all up to your conscious.

In the mean time, best of luck with whatever car you choose to get!

I just re-upped my gold status, I support all sites I find helpful and visit frequently. Currently I reguarly donate to 5 different forums.

One suggestion for S2ki admins is an email reminder when your membership is going to expire. I just noticed mine expired a couple weeks ago and If I'd have realized it I wouldn't have let it lapse.

with that one wholeheartedly!

It would also be nice if the system would allow you to renew for the next year within a predetermined time "before" the membership expires. It's not that big a deal but it seemed strange that the system wouldn't let me renew last time until
'after" my membership had already expired?
