xviper you did it again....despite being a pain sometimes, you are the biggest ambassador for this site

Owning the S2000 wouldnt be the same without s2ki, IMHO we should do everything we can to support it.

Been a gold member since I joined. And saved more than what it costs to belong to S2KI.

Some of us need a reminder. (Memory is the second thing to go...)

My membership expired, but I never was prompted in any way to renew. Anyway, just upgraded to gold.

I'll upgrade... I'm an older owner who came up from hot rodding and drag racing to Brit sports cars and then German muscle sedans. In 1984 I bought my first Honda car and discovered Honda is about more than motorcycles. My point is that "back in the day" noobies paid dearly for the information they craved. I shlepped coffee & donuts for the oldtimers on race days when I was trying to pick up Chevy tips, gave discounts to mechanics who had information (or tools) I needed, and otherwise humbled myself in the pursuit of closely-held modding or driving secrets. Then, it could take years to amass the kind of information you can get on this board now in minutes. (Which I have!) In other words - my dad's, in fact - you youngsters don't know how good you've got it having a resource like this!

A couple of suggestions, though: 1. Make it easier to sign up and renew and 2, keep reminding "guests" that their financial support is needed and appreciated. It would be a shame to limit the conversation, but if freeloaders are becoming a problem, perhaps "guests" should be allowed to post only on a restricted basis.

Anyhow, I appreciate all who contribute to this amazing storehouse of information. Kudos!

For all the knowledge and friendships alone a basic or even gold membership is money well spent IMO.

I think it would be a shame to limit the ability of guests to participate - remember, they are the source of new members! A renewal reminder system and some ads asking guests to join the site would be a very good idea. Maybe a mass PM once a month or so to all guests, asking for their support, would be an option.

Only sometimes? I'm trying as hard as I can.

I'll use this quote from a reply up above:
shoot the basic membership is worth it just for the entertainment I get from this site!
I realize that I'm a bit of a loose canon now and then, but I'm truly hoping that by stirring up the pot a little, I'm providing that "entertainment" value for others. This site may have started out as one of personal inspiration, but I think those who own it must agree that it has grown to way more than they could have ever realized. I think that they can even admit that to sustain it, it must be run like a business. For that to happen, it must provide viewers with a service but it must also provide viewers with entertainment.
A side benefit of that entertainment value is that perhaps it helps to weed out those who might represent nothing more than a negative entity.

Yeah, I can be mischievous at times but would hope that those who run this site might be able to see the benefits that this may bring. In any case, I always leave my existence here up to the "powers that be".

Okay, flame suit is securely fastened and ready for battle. As you can see, I am a guest, for darn near a years time. Every so often, I contemplate joining and getting a membership. The only reason I don't, aside from being lazy, is that from time to time I get so fed up with the site and all the crap that goes on within the boards. This includes many things, including useless arguments, personal attacks, people trolling for confrontations, etc.
Your ready for battle??

Sounds like your trolling for confrontations.

I agree there are some threads here that are childish, but bottom line is that this is the best, I repeat, the best, S 2000 site on the internet, by far. The community of people who post here is much more tolerable than some of the other Honda forums, which will remain nameless. No matter where you look there will always be those few people causing problems and chewing bandwidth, but this community is the best out there and we should all thank eachother for it. This site is only here because of people like you who join, and some who donate in the form of memberships.

Think of it this way the Gold Membership at $50 will cost you around $0.13 per day. Now a lot of us don't make a lot of money, but that is an acceptable price to pay, even if you only use this site for tire info. How about a regular membership you ask? Try $0.05 per day. Seriously, the membership is worth it, just for the additional categories available only to memebers. I've said too much already I'm probably in trouble.

So sign up already...

I was a guest for a few months before I became a member.... Once I really got into the s2ki site then I became a member... Don't hate the guest, we all used to one... On a side note, I like these forums alot, they have helped me out sooo much. Especially guys like xviper, he's helped me out sooo many times... One complaint is the mods can be a bit "power hungry" and sensor way too much IMO... But besides that, paying for a membership is probably the most worth while $20 I have ever spent.
