Year round S2k drivers
I am looking for advice from s2k owners who drives their s2k year round, specifically s2k owners who has S2k as their primary car.
I m looking to get a S2k within the next 3-6 mo. This will be my ONLY car. My major concern is obviously the practicality of that.
**Anyone on this board who drives it daily year round, and drives the S2k as their primary car? Do u like it as your primary car? Any problems or dislikes?** I drive a integra GSR and sometimes (on a cold winter day), i wish i am driving my mom's A4, with heated seats and auto climate ctrl. I've spoke with some S2k owners, it seems that the performance that comes with it out weighs the amenities, (quote for one owner "the car is so hot, makes you forget that you don't even have a glove box") Is that a general consense?
I live in Westchester area NY. I am single with no kids. No other extra passengers other than me and some chick. Cargo space is not a concern for me. New car will be garage at nite, but not at work.
Also, anyone know any dealers around NY who has a demo car so I can test drive? or I just have to take your words for it.
Thanx for your advice in advance.

Use the search and try 'daily driver' . Many people in the past have expressed your concerns about this car as a daily driver.
I've had mine for 10 months and use it as my primary car. I now have close to 28k miles and have no problems with it. Some people have problems with its lack of storage. For me it's perfect.
The GOOD far outweighs the BAD in this car.

My S2000 is my only car and it works great 98% of the time. Right now I need to pick up a DVD stand and of course it wont fit in the trunk. I might be able to place in passenger seat wit top down, but weather looks threatening. I live in the south so I don't know about snow, but a lot of people have said the S2000 does not perform well in extremely cold conditions. However it seem most are former FWDers (like you) and wd is totally different.
Seeing your location, I would personally advise against owning the S2000 as your only car. (it's probably not the popular opinion).
If you lived in a 'fair' climate area, i.e, the Southeast, Southwest(CA for example) you can probably get by with relative ease as your only car, assuming you don't go and try to get 2 weeks of grocery at once. You get the point.
With harsh winters, the car might be a pain. Sure, you can get snow tires, etc. But would you really want to subject your car to all the sand, salt and road grime from winter driving??
I would get a 'beater' for those kinds of days AND get the S2000 if you can swing it.
But yes, I do feel that the good outweigh the bad after a year of ownership.

Clintock,
I use this car as my daily driver all year. I live about 30 minutes from you too. Be advised, one must invest in a spare set of wheels clad with Blizzak tires to continue to drive during the winter months around here. Even if you don't drive in the snow, the cold temperatures make the stock S-02s very dangerous during the winter months. Want a check ride?

This car is our only car these days. It is driven daily, does the shopping etc. We love it with a vengeance. Bound to get an argument on this, but in all but the lightest fall of snow or on ice the car is lethal. Those lovely wide SO2's and all that power to the rear wheels combined with the light weight of the car make for a ... toboggan! Ours stays in the garage on those days. We use public transport on those days which thankfully are pretty few. I've done plenty of skidpan driving in my time...and this is my view. This is the only bar I see to you using it as an only car depending on your travel distances.
We don't use snow chains in this country so I can't advise on 'em but I'm sure someone will know. Hey get the car and move closer to a Train/Bus Station
Good luck whatever you decide

Move to Florida and buy an S2000, problem solved. I would love to tell you it's a great daily driver, and in Florida, it pretty much is. However, since I'm from New York, I definitely wouldn't want the S2000 to be my only means of transportation. You could do what I did initially and buy a beater for the bad days. The only problem with that is you get a bit spoiled driving the S and you don't really care to drive much else, ever.

Clintock 1071.............I have used my S2k for just on a year, in all British weathers with never a problem. Not garaged as I haven't got one, always starts first time on the button
no matter what the weather.
Heater is very good, not yet experienced any problems in bad driving conditions so my advice is....go for it, once driven never want to leave the car.
Even storage no real problem unless your chick wants to travel with more than the minimum. However, storage within the car all but useless, and you need to be a contortionist to use what little there is!!
Hope you enjoy it as much as we all do

My S2000 isn't my only car but it is my daily drive, purely because if i'm just driving around I want to enjoy it and the s2000 beats the pants off the other 2 cars (a toyota MR2 and Alpha 156), if you're planning going away with someone for a weekend then pack ligthly, but appart from that she'll do you proud, a great car.
