Default YELLOw S2K

Hello there,

I am a new member here, and wanted to get some info. I was initially going to post about:

1) Whether to get a 04 or 05. I have no problems buying used, but a dealer local to me is selling a used 2005 Riol Yellow with 2700 miles for 33K, when I can get a new one at that price.

I was under the impression that 05 is the last year, so I wanted to buy one this year, as I am not sure how many rio yellows are out there. I am patient enough to wait till mid next year and pick up a used 05, to save on the initial depreciation.

However, after coming on here today, I learned there is a 2006 S2000. I am a bit confused. So 05 isn't the last model year?

Will there be a yellow 06 offered, as that is the only color I would buy.

I appreciate the help, and looking forward to being a contributing member of this society.

If anyone is local, I am in SImi Valley, CA

Yeah, there will be an '06, which will be heavier due to some extra options. It will have traction control, and a couple of other things I can't remember. I'd opt for the '05, since a couple of people on here have gotten them for $30k OTD, which is a pretty good deal. Good luck with your search.

Oh, try to get them to throw in a front lip!

THe reason I haven't jumped into one is, I currently own a mazdaspeed miata, and a mini cooper S, and with the S2000 I hear about seats being stolen and other vandalism, and just am scared.

I really do want to buy the car, and hope with info from youguys, will purchase one soon.

Paul,

Thank you for your post. Glad to hear there will be a 06. Do you know if there wil be yellow offered? Both my other cars are red, and I want to mix it up to match my Duc.

30K OTD is good, but my local honda dealer (whom I have bought 3 cars from in the past 2 years), won't go lower than 32K.

Any idea, where I can get the info on the 06? I searched here, but couldn't find any. .

I had an Integra Type R and the theft rate is 100x that of any car. I have a garage and made sure if I went places, it was in a good area. I had a good security system in place and just hoped for the best. I made it just fine, with hardly any incidents. Point is, just use good judgement and practice common sense (i.e. don't leave your top down when you go places and take your other S when you have to go to a questionable area.) I don't think it's as bad as you'd think. If you're really worried, get a hardtop, full coverage and a good security system with proximity sensors. Other than that, not much else you can do...other than enjoying the car and realizing crap will happen in life. Have fun.

Here are some info on the 06 models. Off hand, I'm not sure of all the details.

If you can get a great deal on an 05, I would go for it. Other than that, I would however opt for an 06 just because of the stability control and traction control. All the purist can bitch and moan all they want but there is a reason why almost every car company offers it on their sports car. Even the elise now will come with traction control (not sure about stability control however). Where are you located, i'm sure if you ask in the regional area, you can get good responses on which dealer to go to for the best prices

Yeah I know about the ITRs. Great cars, but theive magnets, but I guess any honda is.

I am glad to hear your re-assurance, and it is much appreciated.

I have hardtops on both of my miatas, but they are not comonly stolen, so it is not a problem.

I have had 2 motorcycles stolen (while studying undergrad/masters in the bay area), thus theft always brought up bad feelings.

I live in a suburb of los angeles, and have a garage to park the S2k in.

I was looking to purchase in the next 30 days or so, but now will hold out on the 06.

I appreciate once again your help.

How much is the lip worth?

On some pics I like the car without the lip, and other pics I like the lip. I can't decide

Also do you know if the lip lowers the front of the car? Really don't want to scrape all over on the driveways.
