I took delivery of mine when I was 22 years old and wrote out my own check for it. I'm now 23.

I definitely want to know what kinds of jobs you 'kids' have to be able to afford these cars at the age of 16-18 years.

Well I got a job at BK when I turned 15 and was getting plenty of overtime every week (yes that is illegal). After a couple months of busting my ass, they made me shift coordinator. I know that isn't all that impressive, but they were giving me plenty of hours so I was happy. All of the money I was making was going into a mutual fund which I got a bit lucky with. It went up significantly. When I turned 16 I quit BK and started working for my dad. He owns a flooring company and I do all of his State Farm work. When all was said and done, I had come up with around 50K. I got an s2000, a prelude, and put 10k into a small share of land that my parents were buying in Punta Gorda. I consider that a huge favor from them because they got an amazing deal on it. Over time I am supposed to be getting 30-40K out of it. I am hoping to put a down payment on a small house and rent it out, but who knows. Well that is my story. Have a nice day.

Eric, that is amazing! It's awesome to see that you worked really hard for your money and you had the smarts to invest it first before immediately buying a car. And investing the rest of the money in land after buying your cars...even smarter. I bought a house last year and have already seen the value increase $35k since then. I haven't even done any remodeling or what not. Amazing...!

I am currently working at a place called ConvExx (set up SEMA, IAS, and other conventions). I am the mailroom clerk/ runner and get paid $10 per hour. About 75 % of my money goes towards paying for my car. The other 25% goes to gas and mods for my car! I will be starting a business soon which hopefully will help me make some more money. Btw, pay for the S myself.
