21 here.....guess that is old considering some of these guys. Previous rides were a Turbo LS EG hatch, VW passat, and a CBR600F4i.

Trust us kids. If you drive an S and you are under 18, you are freakin spoiled. I'm not knockin it. I was spoiled by my wonderful parents, you just need to accept it and move on. Aside from the rare super genius who owns his own multinational at 16, there is just no freakin way a normal 16 year old can afford this car. I know, I was 16 once too. As soon as I turned 16 I got a job that I worked every spare chance I had. I made squat. There is just no way in hell a kid that young can save up that kinda cash in the time allowed. Not to mention the insurance. I'm guessing you guys don't pay that because I make what is considered by most to be a VERY decent living and I still go bug eyed when I see my insurance bill. I have one ticket on my record from 4 years ago (pre S2k) and have never filed a claim. I can't IMAGINE what the rates would be for a 16 year old guy. If you know how much is shelled out, I hope you are kissing your parents a$$es daily. If you don't know, I suggest you go ask them and you will hopefully have a whole new respect for them and will start to kiss their butts more often.

TonyY510, a lot of the people in this community worked very hard to be able to own was is to most people on this board their "dream car." When you see someone get handed this car, a little resentment is natural. The only way to combat this is to show your respect and knowledge of the car. Nothing pisses people off more than a teenager trying to look "cool" in a car mommy and daddy bought them. There is also a maturity barrier here. 17 year old kids are immature. You may not be, but the overwhelming majority is. Therefore it is on you to prove to the group that you can hold your own in the conversation. "The rest of us" were all 17 once too, remember that. I also have an 18 year old brother so I speak from experience. I have always been a gear head. When I was 16 I was out earning respect. I was modding my car and spanking people 2-3 times my age on the AutoX courses all around NC and VA. Don't be hesitate to do the same. Don't let a silly thing like age hold you back from anything. Age is only a number, maturity is what you bring to the table.
Well when i was 14 I was building webpages by word of mouth on the side so thats how I explain paying for my car. No multinational corp but something to turn extra cash. Now almoast 20 still designing on the side, working another full time job and full time at school again (junior) I now have enough to sell my GSX and pick up a s2k, Also I am financially independent from my parents, cell, credit cards, insurance, gas, rent, name it, its there. So im proud of myself, if you dont like it, tough luck.

[QUOTE=dispader,Sep 1 2004, 03:40 AM]I think it has more to do with your age difference than people "hating" a young guy with an S2K.

Good for you. I did web design on that side when I was young too. Paid for a lot of my mods that way. Again you will notice that neither of us had an S2k at 16 though!

I'm 18 and pay for everything and work my ass off to do it.

If I wanted my parents to buy it for me they would have with hesitation. Having your parents pay for everything is easy, but paying for it all on your own is much more rewarding and you enjoy it alot more.

I'm 17 and I have an 05 S2000. I hope you all don't hate me for this but I pay for nothing. My parents pay for everything because they don't have to pay for college for me.

Same goes for me, but I'm quite appreciative of what was given to me.
