Is it your second S2000? please read
I just lost my S2K in a serious accident (written off, not my fault) and will be getting a new one. How many of you traded for a new one because of colour, glass rear window, better gearbox or other.
How do you like the new model compared to the old one?
Thanks for sharing your experience!

I traded in MY01 with only 4k for mileage. I did it for the glass rear window and improved, (but not necessary) shifting. I also believe the 02 "feels" different...I want to say a tad "softer", but it could be me. Anyways, I have no regrets and we use our S2K as a weekend "toy" and we do look forward to the weekends!
I had one of the very first S2000s in 1999 and sold it about six months later; I got a new 2002 last week. I think that the older car drove better, personally. I like the glass window and shifter better and a couple of other things. The 2000 seemed like it was not as soft. My first one was silver and red, but this one is silver and black; the new red interior is really ugly, in my opinion. I think that there are noteable changes in the two cars.
I replaced my '01 S with an '02 S when I had a great opportunity to sell my '01 for a price that I couldn't pass up. Had I not been able to sell the '01 at such a great price (or had it been necessary to eat a bunch of $ on trading the car in) I wouldn't have done this.
I love the glass rear window. It's kind of funny because the only time the top is up is when the car is being washed but it makes even that chore so much easier. I can't really tell too much difference in the gearbox. My '02 does seem a bit stronger (probably because I was much more diligent in breaking the motor in properly) and the exhaust is a little deeper. I don't detect any difference in the ride or handling. The stereo is quite a bit better.
Finally, I love the color. I was somewhat disappointed that I couldn't get a silverstone/red '02 (no offense meant to anyone but the Sebring Silver is a little too "flat" to my eyes) and so I was able to convince my better half that Spa Yellow was the way to go. I absolutlely love the color. Truth be told, I don't think yellow works on that many cars. Morevoer, many manufacturers yellows are ugly (see BMW). The Spa Yellow on the S and NSX is damn near perfect and it really suits the car.
My rating:

traded in my 00 for a 02.
I like the smoother gearbox. And rear glass window make the car look more neat.
overall, I like the 02 interior even there are not too many changes from the pervious, but all the silver trims does make the interior look more luxury IMO.
