Default Z motor in my S

Just wondering if I was the only one out here who has given serious thought to putting a small V6 in to my S. I'm thinking of a late model 350Z motor which I believe is also shared by the Nissan Maxima 3.5. Reason? More power off the line and the fact that I don't have to 'drive the car like I stole it' to get awesome acceleration. I know it would upset the balance of the car a bit but I'd be willing to sacrifice handling for acceleration. How hard would this be? I know people will say that I should have bought a Z but frankly I like the looks and size of the S much better...

Do a search. I remember someone long time ago asking the same question. Along with a lot of bashing for what people thought was a pretty stupid idea, he got few interesting answers. Maybe it'll help ya out. I don't know much about the Z motors but I assume it won't be easy. I've done a motor swap B16A1 into a 89 CRX HF. Even when staying within the same company I can tell ya the swap wasn't easy. Expecially the d@mn motor mounts (It was a HF... ). Anyway good luck and get ready to put out some serious $$$. I'd think about motor rebuild and FI instead of Z motor swap if your looking for power (<-my 2 cents).

Sounds like an AP1 owner that would be better off in an AP2.

You would not upset the balance a bit, you would completely obliterate it.

If you're willing to go to extreme measures to get more torque, look into the Inline Pro 2.5L deal, or maybe just a built up or supercharged F22C.

how about a S3200? C32 V6 nsx motor.

i'd guess it is still possible to retain the 50/50 weight distribution since the weight is shifted even closer to the firewall.

You would have 1 gear for forward and 6 gears for reverse then. Might be good for autocross though if you like to show off.

^^^^^ , By the time you do the swap and spend $$$$$,etc the power you'll be making with that (V6) a S owner with the same $$$ on his 4 Cylinder S will be smoking you A$$ all day long........

Z motor would be a waste on the S, you should do something special like a RB26 or SR20. If you put a Z in a S, why not just BUY a Z, pretty much the same.
