Z4 Disaster. When will BMW get it right?

I have to say that this comment brought a smile to my face. My wife marvels at my ability to forget birthdays, anniversaries etc. while at the same time being able to quote dates, times and locations of the next 8 race meets

I'm sure glad I never raced my buddy's diesel pickup. With all that torque, he would surely beat me.
In any road course the Z4, with it's 50 extra pounds of torque, would pull one to two car lengths on the S2000 exiting each and every corner.
Over a 50 or 60 lap race, the Z4 would probably lap the Honda, even if the S2000 driver was able to keep the S2k in vtec the entire race. The 50 lb ft of torque deficit, even with superior RPM's, would never overcome the additional burst out of each corner.
At the present time the S2000 just does not have an answer for the huge discrepency in torque verses the Z4.

I've actually grown to favor the Z4 sheetmetal and I was one of the early bashers. I think it is effortlessly masculine and the rear trunk is aggressive. No girly convertible here folks. I don't like the wafer thin steering wheel though, it's fugly...and I don't like interior dashes that connect A pillars without some sort of driver isolation (think Supra, RX7, etc) ergonomically. Outside, I like it. Inside....drab.
Thanks s2020, I must make one correction to my post however.
The torque differential is actually 61 lb ft, not 50.
I did not even touch on the advantage of the the sequential shifter. Probably a second per lap.
