Default z4 vS s2K

Went to a local BMW dealership today to checkout the Z4. First impression...That thing is WIDE! It looks like it as wide as the 7 series. Engine is the exact same as the 330i (325i for 2.5i version) $47k for the 3.0 I looked at. Consol looks good...very clean, but the instrument cluster is TINY. Two rings anout 6 inches in diameter viewed through the steering wheel...left is speed and right is RPM with smaller rings for temp and something else. All the numbers were way too small to read at a glance, so shifting....Oh wait a minute it's an automatic!! tyipical BMW steptronic tranny which is more of a novelty than functional. Guess I'm also squewed from looking at my cool digital cluster in my s2k.
Lot of wasted space under the hood. The first thing that caught my attention was a shiny heat shield on the rear left of the engine, but nothing shielded ??? There was about a 1 foot gap between the shield and the firewall. Anywho, for 47K I think I'd like to stay with an S2k and spend the the left over 17K on cool upgrades and a beater for around town...what am I saying, I don't need a beater

For the most part I agree with you, but the more I look at the car the more I don't think it looks as bad as I thought. I still hate it in that silver or grey, but I have seen other colors and thought it didn't look so bad.

Would I buy one? NO! Honestly I don't think it is as much the car as the price that turns me off. I guess I got spoiled with the price of the S2K.

What color was the one you saw?

Z4 = Boulevard Cruiser, but sometimes not often, taken to its limits

S2000=Full Time Screamer that begs you to drive it to its limits 24/7/365
