04 rattle on decel
So I picked up my 2004 s2000 in 2009 and when I bought it, it had the typical TCT tick. Dealer fixed it and the tick was gone but now the car makes the awful rattling noise from 5k down to 3k rpm. It only makes under decel. It sounds like its coming from directly infront of the drivers seat and low to the ground. I can't say that I hear it coming from the transmission area though. It sounds a lot like a heat shield rattling away, but I've checked the few I could find and no luck.
From what I've read this sounds a lot like the AP1 clutch buzz issue (TSB 054) but I haven't seen or heard of anyone having this kind of issue on an AP2. So my question is this; Does the TSB apply to my 2004? Has anyone ever heard of, or seen an AP2 with the clutch rattle? Would I have to pay out of pocket for this repair? The dealer sold me a 2 year warranty when I bought the car but certain things (wear items) aren't covered.
Also, on a completely unrelated side note, would a K&N FIPK void my warranty?
Thanks!

I had exactly the same noise happening on my '04 and I too couldn't trace it to anything.
Took the car in for a garage check on Thursday and discovered the Catalytic converter had disintergrated. It's easy to mistake the beginnings of a cat failure for clutch buzz because the noise eminates from around the same part of the car. I now have a de-cat pipe under there and everything sounds perfect - the extra noise and power is welcome too!
Just keep your eyes and ears open IMO.

Thanks a ton for the reply Rotax! I'm actually relieved to hear that it might be something simple like that catcon, my dealer makes warranty work a huge hassle. I've got plans for a Berk HFC in the near future anyway; we'll see if that fixes it. Again, Thanks Rotax, I owe you a cold one.
