Default 06/07 motor into 04?

Hi, I just purchased a motor, tranny and ecu off an 07 S2000. I have an 04 and just wondering if it will cause any difficulty in installing since it is dbw with traction controll and 04 models dosent have them.

Your sig says you have an 06? 06/07 motor swap is easy, everything is the same.

04/07 motor swap seems like it would be pretty straightforward, IF you are not switching to drive by wire. Longblock is the same.

does this mean i have to get a throttle body and run the cable to it instead and everything else would work fine?

If you just replace the 07 engine (block / cylinder head only), it is a straightforward swap. You would use your 04 intake manifold, throttle body, cable, keep the original 04 wiring, fuel system, etc.

If you want DBW on your 04, trade it in for an 06/07! You have to change ECU, wiring harness, fuel system, all kinds of things.

This is not going to be an easy swap. For one thing, your fuel system will have to be changed. 06 went to returnless fuel supply. So your 04 chassis will have to have some fuel parts exchanged.

I am not too sure about the 07 electronics in an 04 to be honest. It seems to me that if you have the 07 ECU, wiring harness, complete engine (ie: including DBW throttle body, intake manifold, injectors, etc.), that it would work. But don't take my word for it.

Perhaps you could find someone with an 04 or 05 AP2 who went to ITB's and buy their old intake manifold, TB, injectors, and ECU off of them. Might be easier... but that would definitely be a long shot.
