'06 Cat on an '00
Hey gang,
I'm in the market for a cat converter. Just threw cel code P0420 and don't wanna give the dealer $700 just for parts. I have my eye on a cat off an '06 but was wondering if the tubing sizes changed or any other fitment issues.
Thanks in advance,

Another question then. I threw cel code P0420, which as we know points toward the cat. Self-diagnosis of car problems can often be expensive, especially if I start replacing parts that don't need it. Are there any other common issues associated with that code?
Here is why I ask.
1. I have been hearing a rattle from under the car for a month+. I initially thought it was my HKS exhaust that was starting to die, then the cel which told me Cat Converter.
2. The car has been smelling super "rich" when sitting in traffic.
C. I JUST cleaned the filter on my Comptech Intake the day before. The connection to the throttle-body was off as well (Doh) and I reconnected that as well.
4. After clearing the cel once, I checked all the electrical connection up top to see if anything got lossened when I was in there, but I didn't find anything. I tis just creepy strange coincidence that the cel code came on right after that. The code analysis also says
"probable causes" are:
a) CAT
b) Engine Misfire - it is pulling very strong though
c) large vacuum leak - why I checked hoses and elec connections again
d) engine oil leakage into exhaust-valve guide seals, piston rings. Well I have 155+k miles and burn about 2 qts per oil change, which is at 6k intervals.
Whaddya guys/gals think??????????
