1-2 shift grinds on AP2
My transmission grinds on the 1-2 shift when accelerating hard. Car is a 2005 w/25000 miles, trans fluid replaced about 1k miles ago. I saw the service bulletin for this on the FAQ section, but it was issued back at the inception of the s2000. Does this still apply to the newer vehicles?
Interestingly enough, the service bulletin says to test drive the car, but not to exceed 4k rpm for the first twelve 1-2 shifts! Seems hard to tell if that fixed the problem if the tech can't accelerate hard when testing the car!

you could also try redline mtl fluid. 05's had that crap fluid in them.
Exactly what the above poster stated. Over the years I've learned that the 1-2 grind is mostly driver error. Try a closer seating position. Really.
I have a MY00, and used to say I have the 1-2 grind. What transmission fluid do you use? I switched to Redline MTL and it helped with my notchy shifter. Over time and experience with the car, the 1-2 grind went away on its own. Since I know things don't typically fix themselves.....I've concluded that I simply learned how to shift the car better. Now when I jump on it (last night for example) 1-2 is fine.

Also make sure you're pulling straight back into second. I found my 1-2 shift notchy-ness issue was actually caused by me pulling ever so slightly towards my body instead of straight back.

i've only been driving my s for a few weeks and i had the same issue. it wasn't the car. It was me and I freely admit it.
I was surprised to see that someone else already mentioned this as I thought I had an epiphany the other day when I did this. I pulled my seat forward 1 click. fixed it completely. it seems that my s really wants you to put the clutch to the floor from 1-2.
I played with it a little and it's just my 1-2, if I'm even a fraction of an inch off the floor, it feels notchy and bleh, but if i'm on the floor it's like butter
