but for a stock 00-05 ecu and no mods it is useless. 00-05 ecu's are not programmable.

like i said before your jus wasting your money!

JanNov s2k, your ECU learns what octane you have by listening to the knock sensor. That's why you can even run it on 87 and not hurt the engine any. Your power will be way down but, it'll run and it won't hurt anything.

The ECU does all sorts of magical things like, compensating for worn spark plugs and dirty throttle bodies. Read up on it some. You'll see what I mean.

i thought higher octane was just better for not having to worry about detonation and things of that nature....not really for power.
actually, it won't detonate.. so that's where the problem starts...
because of low compression, the car will start build up slugish oil on the valve..(which is unburned oil)
it'll start to build up like black things you see @ chervon commerical.

That is two completely different things. The 00-05 ECU's learn, learning and programming or flashing are two different things.

Some times you come up with the wierdest stuff NFRS. It's not oil that builds up on the back of the intake valves, it's gasoline additives. There's nothing "low compression" about the '2k engine.

I have finally found something that I disagree with xviper on.

Actually church automotive did a comparision test of a car running 91 OCT gas followed by an ECU Reset and 100OCT gas. I forget the exact numbers but the gains were significant.

I've actually used 100OCT last summer when the gas prices rose above $3 a gallon, and while I'm always a skeptic of the butt dyno(they have a history of being miscalibrated). I will say that I do agree that it felt much stronger than on regular gas.
