10W50
I brought my car in to get my oil changed and told the mechanics I had a new engine (due to V2 hydrolock) and even though my odometer read 69,800 my engine actually had 3200 miles on it. They told me they'd take care of it, I specifically told them no synthetic due to the engine still settling in. An hour an oil change and a wash later I received my car back and looked at the receipt and they had put 10w50 in my car. From reading posts in here the general consensus seems to be that you should put regular 10w30 in S2000s until about 9000/9500 miles when you should switch to synthetic, is 10W50 going to hurt my engine if I run it pretty hard?
First, make sure that they actually put in 10W50, and didn't just write it down wrong. It is highly unlikely they put in 10W50.
This is way too thick, and I would definitely get them to replace it. This high viscosity could change the way the oil flows through your engine, potentially starving some areas with tight clearances. This is especially true since your engine is essentially new and the clearances are pretty tight.
I wouldn't go into VTEC range with oil that heavy.

I agreed with QIKSILVER, no conventional oil is available in 10W50, but you can find 20W50. Synthetic oils are available in 15W50.
Mobil 1or any synthetic oil in two weights: 0W40 and 5W40 are to use in S2000, after 10k miles.

If it is indeed 10W50, the oil pressure could go through the roof. I can see seals and gaskets getting blown.
