Default 2,500 rpm

Cold idle --- this is not normal right?

I cleaned the IAC but the idle still high.

Oh well, I turned off the ignition, I'm worried on the hi-idle.
Maybe I will let it idle until it gets hot.

My car is not s2000 only the engine that is a s2000.

If you're using the same sensors/harness/ecu for the motor, it'll behave largely the same. I don't know the exact number, but mine idles relatively high when it's cold. ~1k (usually below) once it's warmed up.

If the output shaft of the gearbox is turning it will idle faster. The ECU needs to think the car is stationary before it drops to normal idle.

IOW: the speed sensor needs to read 0?

But how does one rotate the gearbox output shaft and not rotate wheels / move car?
Car on jackstands, in gear, engine running?

Just asking.

Rolling in neutral. I'm not sure he was trying to answer the question directly, just provide additional info.

Just as a follow up - I thought about this thread when I started my car this morning. At start up, my car idled at ~1800-1900 RPM and settled at ~800-1000 RPM at operating temperature. Keep in mind I'm in Florida, so when I started my car the ambient temperature was probably 80+ degrees Fahrenheit.

I still feel the 2,500 rpm way too high (cold) what else to look to lower it below 2,000 rpm atleast?
The TPS properly set up. 0.30 at rest and 4.5V at wot. Nothing unhook - IAC very clean and moving. Linkage & idle screw are properly set.
New intake and throttle body gaskets.

Easy if he was test starting the engine with nothing connected to the back of the gearbox. I had the same problem and holding the output flange got the idle right. In neutral there is enough drag in the oil for the output flange to spin around pretty quickly, especially with the fast cold start idle.
