NO

If you care to elaborate on what differences you're concerned with, we could give you a more detailed answer.

you need to worry about finding the caps-lock button first.

as far as I know, the ECU is different between 00, 01 and 02/03.

That is the ECU was programmed more aggressive for 02/03 and it ran less rich.

I don't know of any other differences.

I'm sure numerous experts will chime in quickly and point out how ignorant I am.

Just telling you what I know.

Xviper might be the guy to talk to. he probably has a DIY engine swap thread. He is very knowledgeable

The basic shortblock and head are compatible. There are some minor differences. For example, the oil jet bolts for 00-mid 02 are two hole whilst the mid 02 onwards are 4 hole.

Not a big enough difference to worry about, and if you are worried, just upgrade the oil bolts during engine swap.

As stated above, there are differences in the ECU and in the oil jet bolts. If you want to get an engine for an '03, you're best off with one out of a later '02 or '03, but an earlier '02 will do (same ECU was used in '02/'03) if you don't mind the old design oil bolts.
