apprieate it very much , i think i have a line on
a complete 2003 with 11,000 miles for 3,000.00
sounds like a good deal what do you think.

I forgot about the oil jet bolts. Even that probably isn't a big deal unless you go FI or do a lot of hard driving in real hot weather.

Why does everyone keep mentioning the ECU? I wouldn't assume it was part of the engine per se.

I assume that the poster has blown an engine in an 03 and is asking about dropping in an 00-02. In which case he'd just retain the 03 ECU.

The ECU resides in the passenger compartment. Model Year 2000 & 2001 S2000s had a different ECU than in 2002 & 2003. scottcal444 did ask about engine differences, but it's important to consider nevertheless. I THINK that you can put any model year engine from 2000-2003 in any model year car (2000-2003), but I suppose we wanted to let him know it might not be as straightforward as we may think. The only physical difference among engines that I know of is the oil jet bolt change that occurred in mid-2002. Oh yes, and also the change in spark plugs.
