I've heard that it MIGHT be found on a late 03....maybe around the time they upgraded the oil pump?....it would take some Honda research to be sure :cough: slows2k :cough:

All, I have an 04. During the last three HPDEs, while under full power shifting, I have about a second of slippage. Is this the work of the delay valve. I believe it is.
Can anyone comment on the soundness for a weekend warrior to remove this valve? I think it is made more for the everyday roadies to prevent clutch dumping. However, I need that quick shifting when on the straights.
Word?

Please refer to my thread for step by step on how to do this mod.
It can be done in less than an hour and can take up to 2 if your just being extra cautious.

Well then...
This could be good news as I too thought I had glazed the plates somehow. But after reading parts of my new Haymes manual, I noticed the addition of a limiter and wondered...pondered...and pondered more.
I am going to change out the clutch fluid anyway. Might as well do a limiterectomy while at it.
There's another HPDE event in a couple of weeks. I'll comment back with the results if I remember.

Thanks for the info everybody. I am so looking forward to the better clutch action as I'm sure that the slippage isn't good for us weekend track stars' clutch anatomy.
BTW, a fellow stook pilot told me that the limiter was put in to help with clutch dumps. Apparently people were blowing up their differentials and that clutch dumps were to blame. Drag racing? What other scenario would cause the condition that Honda wants us to avoid?

Agreed. I've only noticed the slippage during HPDEs while in VTEC and moving from 2nd to higher gears. Everyday driving below VTEC is fine. I agree that the higher power slippage can only lead to early clutch death.
Since Honda egineered a more daily driver softivity, they should go the other way and create a type-R S2000. Wouldn't that be splendid!
Next attention will focus on the suspension. Way too much damned roll in the corners!
A little bit of this, a little bit of that and I'll get this stook dialed in.

I agree....... a type R version would be great. Basically the rawest form of all the best components with out the softened edges...
The clutch delay had me to the point of getting rid of the car. I had lost total confidence with high rpm shifts and mini sprints...
