2nd and 3rd gear shifting issues
After 60,000+ miles I developed what appeared to be a synchronizer problem when shifting into 2nd and 3rd gear. The problem comes and goes. When it's present it manifest itself as a clunk or thump sensation as you shift into 2nd or 3rd gear.
I took it to my Honda dealer and they said there was a service bulletin (#00-055) to correct the problem of "grinding when shifting into 2nd gear". Since mileage was 67,700 I went ahead and replaced the clutch set also. Well, to make long story short, the clunk was still there after the work was done. As I said before, this is more of a intermitent thump or clunking sensation rather than a grinding of gears (although that might be open to interpretation).
Has anyone out there had a similar problem and what if any fix did you come up with?

Do a search, there's been several posts in the past about this issue. Your syncros may not be lining up properly or it could be your driving technique. But more information is available through the search option in the top right corner of the forums.

Yeah i have the same problem. When i change into 2nd and 3rd i i don't push it totally into gear, i just have it slightly push into gear until it slides in and i tried different ways of changing gears and it is that too.

dude. same problemo here. i'm around 63k and what I figured as a solution to the problem was changing my shifting habit. i work with khm instead of mph. Normally I would shift to 2nd at about 18-23 khm for smooth regular smooth interlocking of gear a.k.a. 3k rpm or so. That goes for the rest of my other gears as well. I notice the lower rpm (especially under 2k makes the car really lugged) Try it and see if you notice any difference? I still get the bad cranking sometimes or when it's so dam picky, makes a fuss going into 2nd or 3rd but I gotten use to it....expecting to maybe trade in for ap2? hahahhaha.
