Default 3rd 4th Heavy Effort

Been living with a year 2000 model for the last 2 months and the car is great. Got it second hand with just 19k miles on the clock and getting to know the car.

As of late, when I drive the car hard, I find increased effort is required to change into 3'rd and 4'th gears. Effort required for 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6'th are are as normal. Problem goes away after the car is allowed to cool down.

Anybody experience this problem? Will appreciate some feedback. Thanks.

Have you changed the tranny fluid? Even though it's not high mileage, it might be "time".

Thanks for the quick response. According to the previous owner, the tranny oil was changed at about 16k miles. When I first got the car, this problem did not show itself - even when driven hard. Just started about a week ago. Just wanted to check if its one of the quirks of the car. Sounds like it isn't. Will have it checked out. Cheers.

Next, look into when the clutch fluid was done. Also, try to find out what fluid was used in the tranny at that last change.
