Default 4-2-1 vs 4-1 header

Got just one question, for a NA AP1 with CAI and single exhaust, would a 4-2-1 or 4-1 header gain most power and why?

The 4-2-1 header (also known as a tri Y) has better scavenging and helps make more torque. The 4-1 is better flowing on top end with boost.

That's about right. There are several new ones out that are made in China so the cost is way down. New for less than $600. Keep an eye out for Berks with the larger primaries. Also check out Rick's and Megan Racing. Used is another way to get a good deal.

Hi,

Difference is that the stock 4-2-1 is restricted.

I run with Rick's manifold, which is identical to Mugen manifold, complete with a Mugen exhaust system.

This setup help my mid range power quite noticable.

But if you need top end power, go for something like Spoon.

I also remove the cat, and replaced it with a megan de-cat, this helped a lot aswell, and its a cheap mod to start with.

P.S. If your are not upgrading your ECU, like I installed a Mugen N1 Ecu, you need to do a fouler adaptor in the de-cat and still plug in the O2 sensor.

Cheers

Nev
