First of all I want to thank all the participants in this forum for giving such invaluable info in such a mature and helpful manner. I have a 02 w/ 91k on the clock, and from time to time 4th gear pops out and it goes to neutral with the clutch engaged, also somtimes it grinds going into second from 1st. I don't know when the last owner changed tranny fluid. what could be causing these problems

 

Start by chaning the fluid then go from there

 

Slipping out of fourth has nothing to do with the fluid. It is caused by parts out of spec (wear or damage) and is fixed by replacing parts. Honda has covered quite a few in the past but your car may be too old to qualify.. but it never hurts to ask.

Do a search you will find you have plenty of company.
