Default 70MM throttle plate problem

About a month ago I installed the Erik's racing 72/70mm throttle body and I'm very happy with the throttle response but the butterfly keeps getting stuck in first gear when I'm at a complete stop!!! I've done the easy solution where you turn the idle control screw to keep the butterfly slightly open. That solved the problem but I don't like my car idling at 1400 rpm!!!

I think there is a throttle body cleaner out there that could probably fix the problem for me................any suggestions?

I haven't taken it to the dyno yet as I'm still waiting to make an appointment to have my V-AFC 2 tuned on a dyno. But for sure there is a huge difference with improved throttle reponse that you will definitely feel once you get it installed. Now if only I can solve this sticking butterfly problem!!!!!!
I just did some search online and apparently the throttle body cleaner product might not even fix the problem..............anyone have any ideas how to fix a sticking butterfly problem? It's not just some minor stickiness......I actually have to push down with quite a bit of force to get the throttle plate to open again and this only happens in 1st after I've come to a complete stop example:stop light.

Sounds like the plate is a little large for the bore, or perhaps it's not perfectly centered. With the throttle fully closed you might try loosening the 2 screws holding it to the shaft and see if it will "center" itself, then tighten the screws again. That requires removing the TB though.

If that doesn't work, I'd talk to the mfr and have them send you one that's machined correctly. While you could try to file down the plate yourself, if you go too far you're screwed, and that's what you paid them to do in the first place.

that's what I was most afraid about........I'll just take it to my mechanic this week and see what he can do about the problem...........I'm still waiting for a response from the manufacturer at the moment.
