Default Adjusting gap with top up.

Anyone had to adjust the latches on their top. Mine has started to whistle when the top is up. I can pull on the center handle to make it stop. Very annoying.

Related: Is there any way to adjust the slack on the rear part of the top. Mine sags and doesn't pull the window straight. The crease never goes away even if I park it in the sun with the top up for weeks at a time.

Brent, I looked into tightening the latches a while back and was not able to figure out a direct way to do it. What I ended up doing was putting some thick a$$ heat shrink tubing on the hooks which seems to be holding up. My issue was a little different than yours however. Instead of wind noise, I was getting squeaks and rattles at the header no matter how much Shin-Etsu I had in my hair

I'm not 100% sure but I think there's a way of adjusting the top tension. The adjuster is on the back probably hiden by the plastic covers on the side. Check the service manual I'm pretty sure I saw something on this.

I need to do that too. My problem is with a gap in the front of the top. Tightening the top will only make this problem worse. If air car get in, pretty soon so wil water.

Thanks for reminding me. I always ask this board out of habit. I have the Helms Service manual. I'll check it when I get home.

Try loosening the latches then aligning them w/ the black strickers. Then tighten them. I also found when you lower the top latch the right side first then "hold" the outside part of the top while you latch the left side. Or hold the center black holder and latch either side. I found this tightens the seal and the top is flush w/ the windsheild. Asd for the rear -- if it is the window boil some water in a big suace pan and pour on the window this will "flex" the vinyl--becareful not to touch the plastic w/ the pan it may burn into the plastic. Honda reccomends this w/ thei service dept. I'vee done it takes time. But if the canvas part is sagging your frame might be bent or just needs to be re-aligned-then take it to the dealer. I had a 1996 Eclipse Spyder GST and I had similar situations w/ sealing the front part.

You may need to add/remove shims under the striker plates. The shims I believe are 1mm thick. 2-3 shims per side is normal.

BTW: The Plasti-Dip stuff is great. I used the clear spray-on version to coat the lug nut wrench and lug nut key. Little added rubber protection if the wrench touches the wheels. Wrench holds onto the key better. Also less chance of rattling tools in the trunk.

I'll take a look at the striker plate. The manual mentions shims for the hardtop, but not the softtop. I'll ask Anderson to give me a few shims when I pick up my purge valve.

A closer inspection of the striker plate revealed that I have worn a 1/16" groove. A temp fix is to place a piece of cardboard in between the latch and stiker plate. I will have Honda replace the striker plate. I hope they don't consider that a wear item as well.
