Advantages to a "stepped" flywheel?
I just had my flywheel resurfaced, and was talking to the shop guy. I asked about the 2 surfaces, and he briefly explained that it's a "stepped" flywheel, and how they handle those ones.. not that it's difficult or anything. Just different than a 'flat' one, and the manufacturer tolerance between the 2 steps must be observed.
I was curious, so googled a bit about if/why a stepped flywheel is better. All I could find was info on WHAT they are, and HOW they got resurfaced. But not WHY they are stepped -- what's the advantage vs. a flat one?
