Default AEM CAI idea

Has anyone tried cutting a V1 so it places the filter in a higher location? I'm looking for a new intake (currently have PRM) and would like to try the AEM, but I'm worried about hydrolocking, so I figured I could just cut the pipe off at a higher location and place the filter there. Any opinions on that?

it is a two piece construction i don't think there would be much of a problem leaving the bottom part off instead of cutting but its been months since i had mine on and i cant remember if it was to close to the fans or what not im sure someone else will give better info

Locating the filter to a higher level is assuming that you want to drive into deeper water. This is not generally the way most people have grenaded their engines. It's parking the car in heavy rain and allowing the water to fall down through the drain hole just under the hood and onto the top of the filter that introduces water to the engine. Locating it higher will only bring it closer to the waterfall.
It's a lot simpler to just plug the hole and make the filter an umbrella.

ps. Have you seen this thread:

Haha, I don't intend to run through water that deep, but shit happens, so I just figured the higher the safer.

I have read about that water dripping issue, which is easily fixed, but since I have a PRM I cut out the fake duct, and from my understanding the AEM places the filter right behind that. And seeing that my car is also lowered, I think its a recipe for disaster.
