aem ems ignition timing
Hey guys, just got tuned with aem ems stock and had a few questions about the ignition timing.
1. On idle (Under 2 k rpm), should ignition timing be in the single digits or double digits? I saw in my tune, anything under 2k rpm had a ignition timing around 5-10 give or take depending on the psi load.
2. I read somewhere that the ignition timing should be reduced when you reach your rev limiter to reduce the stress on the engine. Eventhough my timing goes from 24-25 at 8400-8600, it drops to between 21-23 at 8900-9300.
My current limiter setup is Fuel cut : 9300 - Ignition cut 9150 - Retard Limit Rev 12000
I read on a post that mentioned a hondata sponsor recommending to reduce timing by -10 at the 8900-9300 mark to reduce the stress of hitting the rev limiter. Do you agree with this. All base map tunes and member tune's I have seen dont drop that much at the rev limiter. Also do my rev limiter cutoff settings seem about right? I read the ap1 can go up to 9300 but dont want to push the engine if it doesnt make much power.
Thanks
