Default Air control solenoid valve problem

It came loose from my intake . I'm not sure how long it was off for , only a day or Two I'd say. But my problem is that the nipple broke off where the line by the valve cover goes to. I will try to post a picture soon. Is this a major problem? Is it going to mess up my car ?

The solenoid opens and closes (using vacuum) the secondary air pump control valve (located on the intake manifold) that allows air to flow into the exhaust when the secondary air pump is on. Given there's now a break in the vacuum line, the secondary air injection system will not function properly and you will throw a code.

Will it do any harm to your engine? No.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Well do you think I should try to find a used one ?cause I'm sure a new one is a lot. Or just leave it like that ? It being disconnected . And I'm not getting a cel yet

You won't get a CEL until the air pump switches on, i.e. when the coolant temperature is between 0 and 70 degrees Celsius and the difference in temperature between when the engine was last stopped and now started is at least 20 degrees Celsius.

Try to find one used but I'd personally just repair the one you have using epoxy or JB weld and a correctly sized "nipple".

I'd look around but even a simple hose/pipe would work. You may have to be a bit creative.

I removed all the emissions stuff like that on my car long ago, and have one of those in a box at the house if you just want to replace it. Should only have a few thosand miles on it if that, I'm thinking like $25 shipped in the USA. They are something stupid like $100+ from the dealer if I recall. Just PM me if you want it.

2 cents:::::::::::

For those that need to replace the vacuum control valve for the secondary air system (Catalytic converter warmup) ... I have used two so far from my local 'junk car yard'. I used a similar one that you will find on the 94-97 Honda accord Automatics. It is located on the firewall (about center) and looks just like the $100.00+ one for an S2K. The cost for this one is roughly $19.99 on eBay (if you do not have access to a 'junk car yard).

PS If your valve pulls a code, usually a P0411, this is the fix.
