Default Air Pump Removal

i was wondering if removing the air pump and all the pertinant hoses would cause the car to go into limp mode? or would it just cause a check engine light?(stipulating that i will be running a block off plate on the manifold) i will be removing the air pump + accessories when i install my turbo. i will be running the stock ecu for a while. that is the only reason i'm asking. thanks.

The air pump removal will have no effect, No CEL , did the remove on a track only car with no problems.

With a stock ECU the CEL will be on without the air pump, and the related hoses/solenoids & valve.

If you have another issue that sets a CEL, you won't know due to the light being on for the pump.

my intercooler piping will clear the air pump, so i may just leave it in for the time being. should i just put a small filter on the end of the hose that usually connects to the intake? thanks for the replies.

Yes, the inlet to the pump needs to be filtered.

will it throw a CEL if i just run the filter on the inlet and keep the rest of the air pump assembly intact?

No it won't. The Vortech SC uses a GM PCV filter on the pump inlet. The remainder of the Air injection system needs to be there to avoid a CEL.

I just removed the air pump and associated hoses, valves, etc. Anyone know where to get a block off plate for manifold?

Trace the gasket and make one yourself. Shouldn't take more than 20 minutes with a 1/16 sheet of aluminium, and skill saw.
